Add Style and a Sense of Fun to Your Checks with M&Ms

19 February, 2010 (08:05) | Chocolate | By: Alan Plastin

Would you like to add style and a sense of fun to your personal bank checks? Do you find that you have difficulty eating just one M&M? If so, then you might find that M&M personal bank checks are not only great looking, but are also a great reminder of your favorite chocolaty snack.

Created in 1941 in New Jersey, M&Ms are now sold in more than 100 countries. Everyone loves these sweet candies for their lively candy shells and their delicious chocolate or peanut butter centers. The founder of the Mars Company, Forest Mars, first got the idea for this yummy candy during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s when he saw soldiers eating chocolate pellets with hard shells. The hard shells kept the chocolate from melting and soon the idea of M&Ms came about.

Production for what we now call M&Ms started in 1941 in Newark, New Jersey. The two “M”s stand for Forest Mars Sr. and Bruce Murrie, the son of William Murrie, Hershey’s president. When they first started being produced, they were made in violet, red, yellow, brown, and green and came in a cardboard tube.

In 1954 peanut M&Ms came onto the market and today you can find peanut butter M&Ms, peanut M&Ms, and M&Ms with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and mint chocolate.

If you want M&M checks, there is an assortment to pick from, so you don’t have to settle on just one design. In fact, there are even M&M holiday themed check series, too.

For example, if February comes around and you find yourself wanting to ring in Valentine’s Day with something a little different than your regular checks, then you might want to think about getting the M&M’s Valentine’s Checks. These checks feature images of Yellow, Blue, Red, and Green M&Ms. You can also buy a matching leather checkbook cover to complement your checks, too.

At Christmastime, you can take your favorite M&Ms shopping with you when you purchase the Christmas themed checks. These checks have images of Orange, Red, Green, and Yellow as they prepare to ring in the holidays. Coordinating accessories are also available with these checks, too.

Of course, you don’t have to purchase holiday-themed checks. There are also M&M check series that feature colorful images of your favorite M&Ms at play and these can be carried and used year round. Most of the checks come with 4 rotating images so each check that you write will be different from the one before it.

If you decide to order M&M bank checks then keep in mind that by purchasing them online you can save as much as 50% off the cost that your bank might have charged you for them. Plus, you will have a larger selection of check designs to choose from. It only takes a few minutes to order your checks and you should receive them in about 5 days. That might even be faster than your bank got them to you in the past! Just remember to have your routing number and checking account number handy when you place your order.

Before you order M&M checks, visit MandMChecks.com to get coupon codes and to save up to 50% off your next order of M&M personal checks.

The Candies of the Holidays – Chocolates

28 December, 2009 (05:40) | Chocolate | By: Veronica Carrillo

Ahh, chocolate. I can’t remember ever NOT being absolutely in love with chocolate. I can’t remember my first experience with it, but I’m sure my love affair for this heavenly sweet substance began as a toddler with my first lick of chocolate pudding, or a bite of a chocolate chip cookie.

At the very beginning of its history, chocolate was sugar free. The Mayas and Aztecs drank unsweetened cocoa drinks for over 500 years. It was a luxury reserved for the elite and it was all unsweetened. The Europeans, however, found they desired a richer taste. Two thousand years later, it seems we are headed back where we began. With the problem of obesity growing worse every day and so many people suffering from diabetes, many people are beginning to turn to sugarless chocolate as a desirable alternative to the fat and calories in the regular form. Diabetics also need a version that is safe for them to eat.

You are right in believing that chocolate makes you feel better when you are down. Eating it causes the brain to release endorphins, a chemical that makes us feel good. Everyone likes the little lift that it can give, even those that are watching their sugar intake. Sugarless chocolate makes it possible.

Sugar alcohols are the key ingredient. Sugar alcohols are naturally occurring sweeteners. Sugar alcohols function much like sugar and give a rich creamy taste. Although the taste is remarkably similar, the no sugar version has fewer calories and less fat than that made with sugar.

Virtually any kind of regular chocolate you can think of can be found in a sugar free version. Milk, dark and white can all be found in a sugar free form. Most any sweet treat can be made with sugar free chocolate.

Sugar free products for baking are available for those who want to try their hand at home baking. Sugarless versions of favorite candies are now carried by many drug stores, supermarkets and candy stores. Quality does vary, however. The kind you pick up at the drug store may indeed taste quite different than that made by a quality, experienced candy maker.

Forgiveness Is Easier With Sweet Hampers

18 November, 2009 (07:29) | Chocolate | By: Michael Parker

People may love someone sincerely and would try to protect how they feel but there are times when they just hurt each other so badly. Humans aren’t perfect so this scenario happens all the time. Best friends fight and hurt each other. They may do something to make each other feel betrayed and this could make their relationship fade.

Even lovers are not immune to this. Sometimes, no matter how they fiercely love one another, they would still get jealous, throw in accusations, and give unnecessary doubts. These things hurt them and cause them to be distant with one another and eventually, it leads to no communication for days and even weeks.

But when people really love someone, they don’t allow the hurts to linger and they do what is best to save the relationship. When they realize their fault, they swallow their pride and summon all their courage to come up to the person they have hurt and ask for a sincere apology.

Apologies don’t come easy though. Sometimes a person gets hurt so badly that he or she cannot forgive that easily. Others, however, have the ability to quickly accept a sorry and leave the past behind. But no matter the degree of hurt people inflict their loved ones, their apologies should always be sincere as spring day and as sweet as candies-filled sweet hampers. When these two are paired, in no time hurts will heal and the past forgotten.

When a person is hurt, he or she becomes sad, resentful, angry or even depressed. However, almost everyone knows that a little bit of sweet old- fashioned sweets always do the trick. That is why, it is not surprising when people are in a foul mood or they are down in the dumps, they always gobble a handful of chocolates! Some even go as far as storing sweet hampers filled with almost every candy they like.

Chocolates are studied to produce phenylephylamine, a hormone triggered by the brain when people fall in love. Therefore, it is clear that when someone wants to make someone feel better that they should give sweet hampers filled with chocolates and other sweets imaginable.

However, to truly say sorry, people should admit to their faults and ask for forgiveness sincerely. Pairing this with a bunch of roses and sweet hampers of heavenly sweets, it’ll be surely accepted. So whether they want to get back with their partners or want to get their best friends back, sincerity and retro sweet hampers will help them do just that.

How To Cook Cod – An Excellent Fish

3 November, 2009 (06:43) | Chocolate | By: James Swelling

Dishes made from cod fish are scrumptious, nutritious, and plain to prepare for dinner. A huge advantage is you can create a large variety, like microwave it or roast. You can garnish with vegetables or just present it alone. You will be excited to know you can add what you want to make a meal that is inimitable and luscious. With cod fish recipes nothing can go haywire.

Consider your wishes before choosing among the different ways. If you are dieting, keep away from frying, as it is not good. For something savory, think of a recipe involving a jumble of vegetables or sauces. For simple one, pick a bare-bone recipe with highlight on just fish sans beautification or constituents.

Preparation time plays a major role on deciding which dish to opt. When you want it quickly, there would be no time to marinate the fish with sauces. Before finalizing the suitable dish, look through the duration of preparing all cod fish dishes. Make up your mind if you want refrigerated or fresh pieces.

Here is one option out of many that you can cook for anyone. In spite of being effortless to cook and economical, the flavor would match a dish that a good restaurant presents. It is easy and comprises of cheese, tomatoes and just bones.

To Start here are the things that go into this: 1 1/2 pounds of cold cod bone, 1 teaspoon of butter, salt and pepper, four sliced tomatoes, Swiss cheese (as much as you’d want on the fish), and 1/2 cup of half and half.

For making this recipe, peel the fish’s coat and bones. With a paper towel dry the fish. Preheat oven at 375 degrees. Melt the butter. Keep the tomato pieces on the fish and add cheese as much as you want, transfer the cream on it, and add the butter to a baking pan. Your fish is set to get baked and takes 25 minutes or until it appears to peel off.

You can definitely replace many of these. For example, if you hate Swiss cheese, go ahead with cheddar. If you despise tomatoes, try using green peppers instead.

A BBQ Chicken Recipe That Beats the Rest

19 October, 2009 (07:36) | Chocolate | By: James Swelling

Who doesn’t love BBQ Chicken? Apart from vegetarians of course. It is just one of the most loved dishes around the globe and for good reasons. Chicken is a meat available to all, it is not overly expensive, a great source of protein, fills you up and makes you feel good! BBQ chicken does not have to be grilled or smoked it can be cooked in the oven too. The trick is knowing what items go into a good recipe so that you and your family enjoy the result.

For the regular BBQ chicken there are a lot of different recipes and many different ingredients but usually if you see the following then you are on to a good one. Cumin, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic, ketchup, sugar, cinnamon, even sometimes beer. For chicken that has an Asian flavored sauce you want a recipe that has items like soy or hoisin sauce, ginger and honey. Remember everyone has their own tastes and preferences which is why there are so many different variations out there. A great base recipe to start with is one from a show called Paula’s Home Cooking with Paula Deen where she makes a dish called Deens Brothers BBQ Chicken. It is one that anyone can follow and tastes great as is, or you can play with it.

Recipe: one whole chicken cut into 8 portions (chicken weight about three and a half pounds), orange juice – 2 tablespoons, Ketchup – 1 cup, liquid smoke – 1/4 teaspoon, dark brown sugar – 1/4 cup (packed), dry mustard powder – 1/2 teaspoon, cayenne pepper – 1/4 teaspoon, Worcestershire sauce – 1 teaspoon. Prepare the oven by preheating to 375F or the grill by using olive oil and brushing it with it. Place in a bowl all of the sauce ingredients (all of them apart from the chicken). Mix well so that they are all combined and then scoop out a third of a cup for basting. Take the chicken pieces and put them in the sauce and toss carefully until they are well coated. Cover the chicken pieces and put on the grill or place them in a roasting pan. Cook for a total of forty to forty five minutes (make sure they are cooked all the way through). After 20 minutes has passed of cooking time baste them with the remainder of the sauce you had set aside.

The great thing about this recipe is that as well as tasting good it is easy! Liquid smoke may pose a problem for some of us more inexperienced grilles, but it is just to give the chicken a smokey flavor without going through a long difficult procedure of smoking the meat. It doesn’t have to be used if you prefer not to.

Although chicken is not an expensive meat, especially when you buy one whole, some people prefer not to have to cut up a whole chicken themselves. Therefore thighs are a great alternative, as they are cost effective taste good and cook in less time. This means you and your guests get to eat them quicker! Or look for a mixture of chicken parts, there are legs, wings and breasts too.

Ways To Create Delicious Chocolate Truffles

26 July, 2009 (05:50) | Chocolate | By: Breanna Lee

by Breanna Lee

Most chocolate truffles are manufactured in factories and some are loaded with so much sugar, it is hardly good for you. Some of those cheaper, waxy chocolates do not even contain as much cocoa as it’s suppose to have which renders it not as good as dark chocolate is supposed to be. So, if you are a chocolate lover and wants to get some great health benefits from it, you could try making your own wonderfully delicious chocolate truffles.

Making chocolate truffles is pretty easy as some of these do not even require too much cooking time or baking skills. As long as you learn not to burn the chocolate, you will soon be cranking out chocolate truffles like a pro! If you are worried about messing up and turning it into burnt bitter hunks, then you should read on for the tips I have in making some simple and easy chocolate truffles that are way better than store-bought ones.

Before setting out to make chocolate truffles, the first things you need to do is to stock up on the essential ingredients. The most important one is of course, the chocolate. I’d recommend dark baking chocolate that has high cocoa content of 70% and above. We want high cocoa content because only chocolates with high cocoa content are of better quality, richer and has more anti-oxidants that are also good for you. But if you don’t really like the slight bitter taste of dark chocolate, you can also choose to get milk chocolate with a lower cocoa content.

Next, you should have on hand other ingredients you would want to be included in your truffles. Some people like almond nibs, crushed roasted peanuts, raisins, dried fruits and other nuts. So, have on hand whatever nuts or fruits you would like to add to your truffles. You can also get some colorful chocolate rice or other decorative items for your truffles.

Then let’s go to the first step. You will need to break the cooking chocolate into smaller pieces or you could chop it. Next, you put it into a heatproof bowl and place the bowl over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl is not touching the water. Add butter to the mixture and then use a wooden spoon to stir the chocolate butter combination until it is thoroughly melted. You can also get some cream cheese to add to the mixture later if you want it to have cheesy flavor.

After the chocolate and butter has melted, remove from heat and cool. Then you add the cream cheese and whatever nuts and fruits you want to add to the truffles. Make very sure you mix it all together until it is well combined. Use could even use a blender to do that to ensure that the cream cheese is well incorporated into the chocolate, nuts and fruits mixture. The final step is pretty easy. Just spread the mixture on a pan and leave to cool. Then use an ice cream scoop to scoop out chocolate balls. Dip the chocolate balls on the chocolate rice or dust with some cocoa powder and place on wax paper on a pan. Refrigerate until firm and it’s ready to eat!

Chocolate Wedding Favors – Knowing What to Pick

8 July, 2009 (05:04) | Chocolate | By: Cari Webbe

by Charissa Bear

Finding the right candy wedding favors for your big day can be tough, but edible wedding favors, chocolate in particular, have always been a firm favorite for guests! Here is a quick guide to choosing the right kind for you.

Molded Chocolate Favors

Finding the right shape for the chocolate you use can really make a difference to the way guests feel about your favors. Small touches are really important on your big day, so start thinking about whether you’d like molded chocolate. Some of the most popular chocolate favors come shaped like hearts but there is huge choice if you want something a little different.

Foil-Wrapped Chocolate Wedding Favors

Foil wrapped chocolates are a great option to use, as you really have control over the design of the wrapping that can match the overall style of the wedding. There are so many shapes and sizes of favors, and some of the most popular wrapped options are coins and hearts.

Personalized Wedding Candy Options

Personalized wedding candy is a common sight nowadays, and there is no reason why you cant personalize edible wedding favors! This usually comes in the form of a special wrapper that may include the names of the bride and groom, or individually wrapped chocolate favors for each of your guests. You could even have the wedding candy itself personalized! This will add to the cost of your wedding, though it will also give your guests something they will never forget.

Finding Chocolate Favors to Suit Your Wedding

The cost of your wedding will influence, to some extent, the candy wedding favors you use as well as the containers you present them in – certain items costing more than others.

Weddings are all about presentation, so you must consider whether you want to present the favors in a plastic glass or perhaps a crystal vase. They can both look attractive, and the type of wedding you are having will dictate your choice. The ultimate choice will also depend upon the total number of guests.

The good news is that there are many catalogues of wedding candy available online to help you make your choice. A great place to start is by looking at the famous brands, as many have products for weddings. But you will also realise that there are hundreds of options when it comes to choosing the right favors.
