Living Vegan – 3 Sub Categories of Raw Veganism

Nutrition

Someone who follows a raw vegan diet consumes vegan food that has not been heated beyond a temperature of 115F at least 75% of the time. Believe it or not, there are actually specialized sub categories of raw veganism. This article will highlight three of the most popular diets.

Sub Category 1 – Raw Fruitarians

A Fruitarian takes the ethical mandate of a vegetarian diet one step further. While a vegetarian does not believe in destroying any animal to feed themselves a Fruitarian extends this to plants. They don?t believe that any plant should be killed in order for them to eat. A Fruitarian diet consists of seeds, nuts and fruit, only food than can be harvested from a plant. Fruitarians need to take special care to ensure that their diets have enough protein in them.

Sub Category 2 – Raw Sproutarian

As the name suggests Sproutarians only eat food that has sprouted. They believe that by eating this living food they are getting more of the foods life energy. Sproutarians feel that eating a germinated food is very healthy because it contains all elements that a plant embryo requires for life. Most legume, seed or grain can be sprouted.

Sub Category 3 – Raw Juicearian

The Juicearian diet relies on vegetables and fruits that need to be juiced before they can be consumed. The Juicearian philosophy is similar to the Sproutarian where they try to consume the life force of the plant.

Amongst Juicearians, wheat grass is one of the most popular foods consumed. The reason is because wheat grass is alive and planted right up until the moment it is consumed. The process is to cut the wheat grass, juice it and drink. Since it is consumed right after it is harvested it is super fresh and is believed to contain a maximum amount of life force.

Sproutarians, Juicearians, and Fruitarians are 3 unique subcategories of a raw vegan diet each with their own methods and beliefs. Enjoy learning more about veganism and the health benefits that result from a raw diet.
