Does Oprah Endorse The Acai Berry?

10 May, 2009 (05:59) | Nutrition | By: Carter Sinclair

by Carter Sinclair

The acai fruit is a small purple berry native to palm trees found on the edge of the Amazon river. This berry is thought of as a superfood because of its high levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which promotes many important health benefits.

This amazing fruit is packed full of free radical fighting antioxidants which helps the body fight off disease, improve metabolism, stabilize insulin levels, increase overall energy levels, and fights off the signs of aging.

A dermatologist who specializes in studying the effects food and other natural substances have on combating the signs of aging, recently put out a book called the Perricone Promise. In his book Dr, Nicholas Perricone noted how powerful the acai berry can be in the fight against old age.

After this amazing revelation Oprah Winfrey rushed to feature Dr. Perricone on an episode of her show. On Oprah he showed why the acai berry was ranked as the #1 superfood in the world. It was also featured on CNN, NBC, Men’s Health, Vouge, and the London Times.

When he appeared on Oprah, Dr. Perricone listed his top ten superfoods for anti-aging, and obviously he listed the acai fruit at the very top. He went on to explain that the high levels of antioxidants is one of the main reasons why acai is such a powerful weapon against the signs of aging.

After that appearance on the Oprah show, some shady marketers started using Oprah’s name and likeness to promote their acai berry products. What they did was twist this simple appearance and make it look like she was actually promoting their product.

So, while Oprah used her show to raise awareness of the benefits of real, pure, and high quality acai products, she has not yet put her stamp of approval on any specific acai berry product.

So, if you end up at a website using Oprah’s name and picture (these sites will usually be offering “free trials” as well), hit your back button as soon as possible. These sites are selling low quality products and using her name to trick people into buying. What you need to do is find a high quality product that actually delivers the benefits Dr. Perricone discussed on her show. So, while she does not actually endorse any one acai product, Oprah did use her fame to show the world how great this fruit really is.

This odd sounding word doesn’t quite get the publicity it deserves. You might be asking yourself, What is Acai? Acai berry is derived from the palm tree family. It has been a regional dietary staple for many Brazilians.

This particular family of Palm covers 7 species which have a native territory that spreads through Central and South America. The Palm tends to grow in flood land regions. While the Acai is probably most famous for the berries which are considered a “super food” containing a large amount of nutrients and antioxidants.

Acai has found its way into many diets as a great health food. It is sold as a juice, powder, supplement, or even as pulp. The entire palm is used including the leaves which are used for roofing thatch, brooms, baskets, mats, and head coverings.

Acai Berry: Does It Contain Side Effects?

19 April, 2009 (05:06) | Nutrition | By: Carter Sinclair

by Carter Sinclair

The Acai berry is an amazing health food. When you drink the Acai juice you lower your cholesterol, look and feel younger, fight cancer cells, and have more energy. With all those benefits many would think that it had some sort of side effects.

However, to date there have been no reported Acai berry side effects. There have also been no reports of Acai berry having any adverse reactions with any prescription drugs. You see, Acai is simply a fruit just like apples, bananas, or oranges. While it could be possible that you are allergic to Acai berry, you do not often hear of people having negative side effects from natural fruit.

The only thing I would be worried about is if I purchased an Acai supplement in pill form. There could be additional ingredients, besides Acai that might have side effects. Many of the Acai pills you see advertised are produced by companies with shady business practices, so be sure to read and research all the ingredients before you buy an Acai product.

Your best bet to get your daily dose of Acai is to go with an all natural 100% Acai berry juice. Since this is Acai in its most natural form your body will be able to absorb all the nutrients much better than if you were getting it from a supplement.

In addition, Acai berry juice has a very delicious taste like that of chocolate berries. You will also be able to see all the ingredients and know for sure that you can avoid additives that may be in the pill supplement version.

Acai berry has no side effects and is a great super food to get a large variety of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids.

Acai Berry Benefits

29 March, 2009 (04:53) | Nutrition | By: Walt Sanberg

by Carter Sinclair

The Acai Berry, a long reddish, purple fruit, originates from the South American rain forest; this fruit has long been popular with the natives. Since being introduced to North America, it has quickly become touted as one of the “super foods”. Since being introduced to the United States, it has become a frequently listed ingredient in products such as health drinks, weight loss supplements and as an energy enhancer.

The acai berry is held as one of the super foods due to the high antioxidant content. Blueberries have been held as one of the highest sources of antioxidants, but this berry has twice the content of the blueberry. Dr. Nicholas Perricone made the acai berry popular with his appearance on the Oprah show, where he placed it in the same category as pomegranate and goji berries.

The list of health benefits are impressive. While still being studied, the acai berry is believed to increase energy, improve stamina, and improve mental focus. It also helps improve sleep, which will in turn contribute to increased energy. This overall well-being may be an incentive enough to try products containing the acai berry.

The antioxidant factor is the contributor to better heart health. In different researches, antioxidants have been consistently proven to regulate cholesterol. High cholesterol is one of the leaders in contributing to heart disease, which means the acai berry can help prevent heart disease. This should also extend life expectancy and quality of life.

Anti-oxidants play a strong role in maintaining blood circulation. This affects not only heart health, but also overall well-being. Good blood circulation may also contribute to enhanced sexual performance, which has also been reported as a benefit of the acai berry.

Those with digestive problems may have found the answer to relief. The high fiber content has been shown to relieve symptoms of irregular bowel movements, and those who have taken the acai berry have seen lowered indigestion. Whether you are young or elderly, this fruit may be the new way to eat your fiber.

Cancer fighting properties are also being researched. This elusive cure may be around the corner, as acai berries have been shown to actually destroy cancer cells. Not only a preventative, this brings the potential for a cure to an exciting new level.

When taking acai berries, how long do you have to wait until you experience benefits? Depending on which product you are taking, most people say there are visible results within two weeks to one month. Word of mouth from the tremendous health benefits have increased the sales of acai berry products. This well kept secret from the Amazon Rain Forrest may be the answer that the natives have known for years now: nature is the best medicine.

Finally, a Healthy Alternative to Energy Drinks

24 March, 2009 (04:10) | Nutrition | By: Marcus C. Evans

by Marcus C. Evans

It’s the end of your work day and you are about to leave work. You’re tired, sluggish and deflated with no energy left for further activity. Even the things you need to do when you do get home. You’ve already had too much coffee and you know it’s not a good idea for you to have any more.

What you need is a natural pick me up; one that has a pleasant taste. Is there anything like that out there? Yes, there is and it is called the acai berry. There are numerous products made using the acai berry which is a natural product with a plethora of associated health benefits.

Sure there are a lot of products being sold now that promise a quick pick me up. They claim their product or drinks are all natural, but do you really know what you are getting? Most of these products simply don’t work or can even be harmful to you! That’s certainly not what you are looking for. What has taken over US and European markets is now making its mark on Australia.

The acai berry is a delicious fruit you will want to try. Acai drinks are made from acai berries. These berries come from the acai palm, a palm that has been harvested in South America for several hundred years. The acai berry is plain and resembles a grape. However, this berry tastes like chocolate fruit, if you can imagine that!

Where it is grown in South America, it comprises almost 42% of the regional diet. South Americans add the acai berry to drinks, ice cream, alcoholic beverages and even granola!

The products of the acai berry, and the berry itself, have been considered for hundreds of years as a source of quick energy and held in high regard for its all around health benefits. The fruit itself is very perishable and can only be obtained outside of South America in a powder or freeze-dried form. As in the United States and European countries, acai berry products are now found in many Australian health food markets.

The acai berries are known for their health benefits. Energy is just one of these benefits. The acai berry is abundant in antioxidants containing more than red wine. It is also jam packed with amino acids, protein and omega 3 fatty acids. The berries are a great source of fibre which we all know is needed for proper bodily functions. The berry also contains natural sugars we need and is pretty much the perfect fruit to be an energy producer for all Australians craving a healthy energy boost.

When faced with exhaustion, lethargy and a general feeling of tiredness. Do not drink any more coffee or questionable quick energy drinks. Keep the acai products in the office refrigerator for a quick pick me up anytime you feel like dragging your feet. It’s a healthy, safe source of energy infusion suitable for any time of day.

Feel good, be healthy and full of energy and use the acai berry daily.

What is the Acai Berry?

23 March, 2009 (09:20) | Nutrition | By: Carter Sinclair

by Carter Sinclair

The acai fruit grows on a type of palm tree located in South and Central America. The berry is purple or green, small, and round. It is usually about one inch in diameter. It has a similar look as the grape, but has a much larger seed. In fact, the large seed makes up about 80% of this berry.

The fact that the seed is so large means there needs to be a large harvest in order to produce a lot of usable pulp. Thankfully, each tree can produce a harvest of 700-900 berries two times per year. Instead of just throwing the seeds away, they are actually put to good use. When ground up they make a great feed for livestock. The locals also make many types of jewelry with the seeds.

Those who are lucky enough to live near the acai palms have been using this special fruit for years as a great source of omega fatty acids, amino acids, and antioxidants. The local athletes also use the berry to get the energy they need to get up for training and competitions. Being one of the most nutritious fruits on earth, it is also a great source of protein, iron, and fiber.

When tested against nearly every food known to man, the acai fruit scored the highest on the ORAC scale. This test ranks foods on their antioxidant capabilities. Being such a powerful source of antioxidants means that it can help fight off diseases such as cancer, improve eyesight, boost your immune system, and repair skin and hair damage.

The omega fatty acid and fiber content of the acai berry make it an incredibly heart friendly fruit. It can aid in lowering cholesterol levels, as well as improving the digestive system.

The omega fatty acids also help with weight loss, protect against hypertension, and improve overall brain function.

We are just now finding out about this remarkable berry, but the Brazilians have been in on the secret for decades. Because it is only grown in the Amazon, it can be hard to get the purest form of the Acai here in the states.

Research is just beginning on all the benefits of the Acai berry, but enough has already been done for us to know that this is a very powerful health food.

Secret to Good Health and Longevity Found in Rare Exotic Berry

17 February, 2009 (05:41) | Food | By: Marcus C. Evans

by Marcus C. Evans

When it comes to looking good and staying healthy, people today have it pretty rough. Not only are we exposed to toxins that were unheard of a generation ago, we also have to deal with stresses that differ from those that have come before us.

It may seem funny then that the solution to these modern problems is an ancient berry that has been around for thousands of years. The acai berry is a blueberry-like fruit that grows in the Amazon rainforest and has been utilized for centuries by native inhabitants of the region for its beneficial properties. This berry offers tremendous health benefits that are just now being discovered by the scientific community and the world at large.

First, the acai berry is rich in cancer-preventing antioxidants that fight free radicals. Rogue free radicals in the body can do all kinds of damage, including promotion of cancer and premature aging.

The acai berry is a famous provider of antioxidants, with several times the amount of antioxidants found in the much praised blueberry. In addition to this, you will find that it also has excellent levels of fatty acids, that are similar to those found in olive oil and that it also has more than its fair share of amino acids. These factors all combine to help make the acai berry a winner when it comes to promoting health and longevity in humans.

The acai berry is full of fibre and good for the digestive system as well. It has well known appetite suppressant effects, and can stave off hunger pangs and keep you feeling satisfied for longer between meals. Owing to its low glycemic index, the acai berry keeps you feeling full and tastes great to boot. If boring and tasteless diet food has you running for the hills, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that acai berry tastes great while helping you with your weight loss goals.

When combined with a sensible diet and exercise program, the acai berry can help you achieve phenomenal results. As a digestive aid, it helps you process food more efficiently, maximizing your nutritional benefits from a healthy diet.

Effective digestion can keep you from putting on the weight that happens when your body is not processing as effectively as it should and instead decides to store everything as fat!

All over Australia, people are singing the praises of the acai berry for its health benefits and the many ways in which it has improved the quality of their lives. Try acai berries in a number of healthy ways – in juices, smoothies, or dried acai berry capsules – and you will be amazed at what this powerful miracle berry can help you accomplish.
