You need not search for rarely available ingredients to make Italian Ester bread. All you need to have are active dry yeast, margarine, all purpose flour, sugar, eggs and salt to prepare Italian Easter bread. The additional ingredients, if you want, could be blanched almonds, mixed candied fruit and a teaspoon of anise seeds.
Mix one cup of flour, sufficient sugar, yeast and salt in a bowl. Add milk and butter to this mixture and beat it for about two minutes. Beat them to medium as care has to be taken not to liquidize the mixture. Beat it further for about two minutes after adding two eggs and a half cup of flour again. When the mixture is thus ready, the additional ingredients may be added to it and the whole should be mixed properly. To this mixture the remaining flour should be added to make it a soft dough that renders the work easy.
Take the dough out and place it upon a worktop. Knead the flour for nearly six to eight minutes until it becomes smooth and flexible. Nicely grease a bowl and place the dough inside the bowl. Put a cover on the greased bowl and leave it to rise in a warm place and after about an hour you will see it doubled.
Now you can add in the uncooked coloured eggs if you will. After this process is finished you will be required to bake the bread in an oven for around half an hour at 350 degrees and voila! your Italian Easter bread is ready to munch on.
